the Mandelbrot Set
with Fractal Butterfly Wings

The wings, disks, and plumes, are forms
which result from observing the change
in the size of the complex variable.
When size decreases steadlily, over
three iterations of the generating equation,
for that pixel, I have the program color it in.
Examining the progression of form, around
the periphery of the figure, gave me plenty
of fuel for my imagination.
I saw the very birth of the universe,
and the succession of the fundamental
forces, in its evolution.
The suggestive nature of these forms is truly
a wonderful tribute to the generative nature
of the Mandelbrot Set itself.
